Joeys Coquitlam: OMG, best fucking dessert ever.

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I normally don’t swear in the post title, but I just have to emphasize how good this fucking dessert is so go ahead, read.

I went to Joeys this weekend after a long long week of aching for their food. Sort of resembling the feeling women encounter during pregnancy. I was craving for the fish tacos from Joeys. As promised, W took me on Sunday night. Which ended up to be a night with so much food I became pregnant. Not the pregnant from sperm+egg, but the kind of pregnant of food. I proceeded to whirl and roll on W’s bed yelping: “Baby, I’m having a baby!!!”

appetizers: “Tempura prawn cone” with avocado, spicy mayo, cucumber & effing amazing. We wanted to try what white people sushi is like (no pun intended), turns out to be pretty darn good. I suppose the executive chef at Joeys did however spent some long time in Japan. And of course the “Killer Ahi Tuna Tacos” seared rare, toasted sesame, ginger coleslaw with wasabi aioli. Anyone else notice they added the word “killer” to their Ahi Tacos or was that always there? The green sauce is delicious x1000. The tuna is always always done extremely perfect. I love this dish so much, I never come here without ordering it!

Entree: I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki because I was sort of craving for Greek food, or maybe this is my attempt of eating “light” and going on a diet. Hate you. It was okay, could of been better. I would of like to see MORE chicken and less sauce in my pita. W ordered the “Lobster Ravioli”. East Coast lobster, rock crab, shrimp& ricotta. The sauce was so creamy and utterly soft and divinely luscious – I could’ve smothered that shit all over my body. The lobster was a literal ball of tender, juicy, buttery deliciousness. And you need to see this in person to understand, how insanely retarded I go over these baby tomatoes. Holy eff, BEST tomatoes I ever had in my life.

Dessert: Pumpkin Spiced Mini Donuts with coffee Ducle de Leche for dipping. THIS. omg THIS, was the reason why I wanted to go to Joeys so bad. I read somewhere that it was named “101 things to eat in Vancouver before you die” and remember my babbling about how I almost never refuse to try anything that is listed “to do before you die”. Well yep, please do not leave this world without having these babies. 100 of them. I won’t judge. A lovely end to the meal (if you can still see your toes).

Joeys def one of the chain restaurants that I don’t mind dining out at. I try to avoid chain restaurants because I hate how much media attention whores they are, that they lose the value of the food. But come onnnnnnn, tuna tacos and pumpkin spiced donuts. Cannot go wrong there.

Okay, so whenever I go to Joey’s, which isn’t too often because I always try to avoid dining at Chain restaurants whenever I can (unless there really, REALLY is no other way out), I always order 3 things. 1- Their Caesar or Stiff Lemonades to start because they are ah-mazing. 2- Their tuna tacos- SOOOO GOOOD. and finally, 3- The Lobster Ravioli- been eating this dish for years! Sometimes, I’ll finish off with their apple pie if I’m not too full. SO YEAH, I pretty much order the same stuff as you.

OMG, I’ve been wanting to try those donuts for the longest time! My sister (who’s also a food blogger- find her at foodmatik.blogspot.com) went on a pumpkin hunt last month and really wanted to try those donuts, but we never had the time to :(

Anyway, I haven’t been to the Joey’s Coquitlam location for SOOOO LONG. I used to visit that location A LOT back when it was called “Joeys Tomatoes”. But now, Joey’s is like this huge Canadian chain with locations everywhere (even in Seattle), and I pretty much just eat at the Vancouver locations, and haven’t had the chance to visit the original location that I used to love so dearly :(
