Song Huong: not really a review…. honk honk

Song Huong: (A) 14667 108 Avenue (N) 604-581-4710

The little nugget managed to shove all the bun (not bread, noodles) on the plate beside her which we were clearly eating from. Little nugget.

I’m just making all sort of sound effects today, like the Transformer sound and that’s not really the point of this post… the point is, this isn’t really a review because

A) I ate here way too many times and now I’m attached and I feel mean if I say something mean which I probably will because mother nature decided to visit me this week. Is that too much information? Please don’t leave me.. LOL B) I went here on NYE with my family because we were all craving for Beef 7-Ways (Bo 7 Mon), it was rather kind of “hectic” to sit down and take any normal pictures… by hectic I’m hinting that there were cops everywhere outside but what’s new (lol) C)I had Song Huong today, but I ate it in the comfort of my own bed (Refer to reason A)

  • Bo 7 Mon: So there’s a type of Vietnamese food in my world called Bo 7 Mon, your world it’s probably address as Beef 7 ways, which is a 7-beef-course or .. not. I don’t find it to be that popular here, but it should be because it’s ridiculous delicious. This was beef 2-ways… wtf right, my dad is friend with the owners and made jokes about how we came here for bo 7 mon but instead we got bo 2 mon. And that’s kind of lame. However, it’s still delishh and with a beer, I felt really good. I’ll do a real post on the beef 7-ways next time.
  • Baby Sister (not for sale): While we’re at this.. I must sneak in these 2 ADORABLE pictures of my little sister and how much resemblance her and I share. Shoving food in her face with bare hands? That’s about right.
  • Bun Bo Hue: Now onto my Bun Bo Hue I had today. I personally think Song Huong does the best Bun Bo Hue in all of Surrey but damn, today sucked. Actually it didn’t suck that bad. I just wish the soup base was concentrated in nothing but spiciness. The DNA in Bun Bo Hue is suppose to be noticeably spicy. But it wasn’t today. I usually do ask for it to be spicier than normal… forgot about it today.

  • Another location in Vancouver, pretty sure it’s from the same owners.
  • Not the best Surrey neighbourhood =/
  • Call and ask beforehand for Bo 7 Mon, they run out pretty fast!

    1. because mother nature decided to visit me this week

      Definitely too much information… :P

by hectic I’m hinting that there were cops everywhere outside but what’s new

Going back to stereotypes, hey, it is Surrey, what do you expect! :)

      About bo 7 mon, I think that people have the preconceived notion that Vietnamese people only eat pho or banh mi and there are no other dishes outside of that group (probably with the exception of the different forms of “bun”, the noodles, not the bread, as you mention!). One Vietnamese dish in particular I “like” would be banh xeo. Hmmmmm… I hope the mother of a friend of mine make them soon and invite me along!!! ^_^;;;

BTW, I am a bad judge of this… Your sister looks like… 3? 4? And you are 21?!

      • Yeah banh xeo is so good!!! It’s all about the right fish sauce though. And hahhaa I have 6 siblings and I’m the oldest oh were all girls hahahaha but last year god granted us a baby boy so now I have 7 siblings my baby brother is 9 months now

    2. oh were all girls hahahaha

Your father must feel stifled (not sure if that’s the best word selection) in that household!

Well, will all the bun dishes or banh dishes (be it banh cuon or banh xeo), I guess it is the nuoc cham that can make it better or simply break it. Hey, you are the voice of experience! ;)

    3. Oh, yum I love Song Huong! I live like 5 blocks away from this place, but I don’t go very often- only when I’m craving Bo La Lot :)

    4. omg! There’s a Song Huong in East Van too, LOL! I thought this was the same restaurant in my hood, haha! No wonder when I was reading this post, I was thinking in my mind “I don’t remember Song Huong looking like this inside the restaurant…” LOL
