Maki Yaki: Awesome lunch deals!

Monkey boy helped my “cool down” part of my workout today by messaging me saying “Immmm so hungry” YAY. That means I don’t really need to think of what to eat, because usually he does the thinking and I do the saying “yes or no” part. Btw, what the hell was up with the wind this morning? What I mean to ask is what the eff is up with people carrying umbrellas in this kind of weather? I had my chuckle watching people literally blown away tackling their umbrellas. Or should I say attacking. It’s quite entertaining actually.

  • Miso Soup: I guess there’s a first time for everything. Was too hungry so didn’t bother asking the server for a spoon. Slurp that like a real asian.
  • Takoyaki ($4.99): Didn’t really enjoy it that much, octopus was completely off. Didn’t even know if it was an octopus or some kind of chewy burnt pebble.
  • Chicken teriyaki Boat ($8.55): When the boat came out we were both surprised on how freaking large it was! It’s a pretty good value for what you get, except that little blop of rice. Didn’t care too much since I didn’t want to fill up right after the gym. The sushi rolls were quite big considering this is a lunch special, grilled chicken was okay. Overall, I’d say you get your moneys worth.
  • Tonkatsu ($11.95): I had a slice of the pork cutlet and thought it was pretty dry. The sauce wasn’t that great either.. kind of cool it came out on that metal thing. That’s all.
  • Pretty interesting interior, there’s a big screen tv perhaps to catch a Nucks game? It’s pretty small but very cozy.
  • I find it so cute how Japanese people say no. It’s like they’re afraid we would ambush them. “Do you guys have that chicken tofu salad anymore?” “oh… no…. noooooo no sorry no we don’t sorry” It’s okay. Relax. I really don’t bite.
  • Lots of parking since Nandos and TD bank is right next door.
  • With Akasaka being a block away and Tengoku I don’t know how they keep up with their competition. But if you’re in for lunch 11-3pm stop by for their boats! It’s gigantic.
