Gotham: Best of Vancouver.

Gotham: (A) 615 Seymour St (N) 604-605-8282
I’m pretty picky about birthday dinners, where it’s at and all. Monkey boy loves his steak and truth to honest, no matter what kind of reviews on how overrated/pricey this place said to be, I still have to say they serve the best steak in town. Gotham knows what they’re doing when it comes to a good piece of meat. And I really don’t mind paying the extra bucks especially for a special occasion. Are they the best steakhouse in the world? Obviously not. But for Vancouver? They’re doing their job right.

  • Complimentary bread: You got to be kidding me. This is the BEST bread I had ever received complimentary. So good, even knowing that I will probably regret it, I ate the whole loaf to myself. Monkey boy sat in distressed at knowing I am going to get full before I start my actual meal.
  • Steak Tartare (16.95): Tartares are my favourite! The steak tartare wasn’t amazing.. I had better elsewhere. We really wish it was because now I regret not ordering that damn beef tenderloin carpaccio instead. They gave us a generous amount of tartare even though it looks tiny!
  • Pinot Noir ($12): I don’t like red wines that much, but I like to think I’m a bit of a wine snob now after my “wine tour” in Osoyoos, so I cannot pair red meat with white wine. It’s just… I don’t know. Not alcoholic-ly correct.
  • Steak and Lobster ($56.95): Birthday boy got the steak and lobster, filet of course. you have the option of New York. The steak was flavorful and buttery and tender and melted in my mouth. It was juicy and cooked to perfection. I don’t know what they do to their steak but I swear it’s everything you would want in your mouth. The lobster as expected, was just as good. The server gently ask to remove the shell for you, it was an amazing lobster.
  • Filet Mignon ($49.95): I really had a hard time picking my steak. The Porterhouse Steak was all I sincerely had in mind. Monkey boy told me to get it but warned me how big it was. Being the stubborn lil brat that I am, I was mid-air ordering the steak and the server told me he can’t imagine me eating a 28 oz steak! OMG. 28 OZ? Okay, never mind. Filet mignon it is. A perfect 16 oz.
  • Mashed Potatoes ($6.95): The mashed potatoes are so fluffy and buttery! The portion was really large so anyone who complains that you have to order your own sides, well hate to break it to you but the sides are extremely generous for 2
  • Creamed Fresh Spinach (9.95): Perfect spinach dish! This dish compliments EVERYTHING. The steak, the mashed potatoes, the wine, the desert, my belly.
  • Old Fashioned Chocolate Brownie ($11): A happy birthday dessert. I thought the candle on the strawberry was darn! The brownie was delicious. I was so full I hard trouble breathing let alone drowning myself in chocolate and ice cream, alas that’s what I did
  • Your classy high ceiling, luxurious seating, intensive service restaurant. The restaurant is huge! There’s the dining room, bar area, patio, upstairs and downstairs for private events.
  • Service is amazing, not your typical the keg girls in skirt kind of thing, you’re paying for real customer service. Not saying even going to compare here..
  • Quite on the expensive side, if you’re not use to paying $60 bucks for a piece of steak and then extra for sides.. you won’t like this restaurant at all. That’s where all the bad reviews come from.
  • They’re not open for lunch! Enjoy a nice summer lunch in their garden patio!
  • They offer an extremely great wine list.

    1. I agree! Gotham’s definitely knows their steak and they have the best bread in the world. We only come here once in a while though.. there is only so much steak you can eat.

    2. Gotham is amazing but exactly cannot imagine eating red meat every dinner. It’s still a nice restaurant for birthdays, anniversaries.. when you feel like splurging for a nice dinner.
