LA, New York, other cities around us are following this healthy sushi trend. I’ve seen it blogged, instragrammed and tweeted so much, now Vancouver finally has one of it’s own organic sushi joint. They even have a quinoa menu! How impressive.
SAKURA BLOSSOM ROLL ($12.95)
Juicy fresh crab, spicy albacore tuna, cucumber and organic avocado rolled with brown sushi rice. Wrapped in sockeye salmon, wuth a creamy maple dressing.
DYNAMITE ROLL ($4.45)
Crunchy tiger prawn whole wheat tempura, avocado, cucumber, organic spring mix rolled with brown sushi rice.
QUINOA SPICY SALMON CONE ($3.50)
Organic quinoa, organic avocado, cucumber, organic spring mix lettuce and spicy wild walmon wrapped in soy paper.
This is the first time I’ve been introduced to a quinoa sushi roll, supringsly even my boyfriend was fond of this because he wanted to order another one, so thumbs up to Shizen Ya for converting a food junk junkie to a healthy food junkie.
BLACK GOMAAE ($4.95)
Diced wild sockeye salmon with black seasame sauce.
CHICKEN BREAST UDON SOUP ($8.95)
Braised chicken breast, oganic carrot spinch and shiitake on udon noodle soup. This is probably the healthiest udon bowl I’ve ever had, I mean just by the look of it.
Normally for a restaurant of this kind, I expected a higher pricing for their menu, especially when it’s located in downtown. The price here is most likely not going to hurt your wallet, however portion is PRETTY small, even the sushi roll are smaller than average. But I think if it were any bigger, that defeats the purpose of eating healthy. I really liked the food here, but that’s because I already enjoy eating brown rice over white rice. It does it’s job if you’re craving for Japanese food and you live a healthy lifestyle.
